To do that, you may have to use the "Character Map" located under Windows Accessories under "All Apps".
Normally, on a regular computer keyboard that has a numeric keypad, if you knew the ASCII code for that character, you press and hold down the ALT key and using the numeric keypad, punch in that 3 digit code and then release the ALT key. It only works
with the numeric keypad and not the numbers on the top row. HOWEVER, you can try the number keys anyhow.
The cent sign was always my favorite and it is ALT 155. I am on an iPad right now and don't have that function to use as a sample but the Character Map displays the ASCII code on the lower right corner of the panel when you find and select the character
you want. From there, you can right down on a notepad your most used characters and over time, you will remember them.
