Surface Pro 4 and Illustrator CC doesn't work well together!

My machine is the SP4 16gb, 256GB, i7 Sp4.

I apologize ahead of time if I'm not very good at explaining/troubleshooting this issue.

I'm not sure if I'm messing up somewhere, but for some reason my Adobe Illustrator CC doesn't work well with my SP4.  Here is the issue that I'm having.

I primarily use the pen to do most design work on my SP4. However, for Illustrator, it doesn't recognize the pen touching the tablet the first 2-5 times. On certain rare occasions (once every couple minutes) the SP4 and Illustrator would recognize the pen touching the screen and it would work like it's supposed to, only to go back to being unresponsive a few seconds later. What is the end result of this malfunction? I can't select/drag things the first time and I have to sit there and keep tapping the pen to the surface until it recognizes it.

You can see how this adds tremendous amount of wasted labor, just trying to get my machine/program to recognize my pen interactions with it. This is highly frustrating and I can not find any resources on this anywhere online. On a side note, I do not have this issue with InDesign or Photoshop.

I'm thinking this is a driver issue.  However, I have updated all my Win 10 updates and Since I don't have a Nvidia GPU, I can't troubleshoot from that angle. Also, the battery in my pen should be sufficient in power and my drivers for my pen is all up to date.

Does anyone have this issue? If so, any advice/suggestion is GREATLY appreciated.

TL:DR:

Illustrator CC doesn't recognize SP4 Pen effectively.

I had the same problem until I uninstalled the Wintab driver.

Try going here: Download Surface Pro 4 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center

Download the Wintab_x64 file and run it.

Click the delete option and restart your surface.

    Hope this helps,

    Chris

I've sent email to a contact at Microsoft, but don't know if I will get a reply.

You might want to also post in the Adobe Forums and see if anyone else with a

SP4 has issues. If it were me, I'd go to a physical retail Microsoft Store (I'm

in the USA) with my Surface and show them the problem and ask them to install

the CC trial on one of the demo SP4's and see if the problem occurs there. That

way I'd know for sure if it was the Illustrator program or something else.

    Hey Barb,

I have Adobe CC and this problem is only found in Illustrator at the moment. Photoshop and InDesign does not have this issue.

do you have the same issue in Photoshop CC or other CC apps? It would be good to

know if this is specific to Illustrator. It almost sounds like it is having

trouble switching between mouse and pen mode.

If it only fails on that program, seems like an issue with that program. Speak to adobe.
