- My computer is always plugged in when gaming.
- No games running in the background
- Yes, I tried tuning down the graphics too but that still hasn't worked
- And no other game has done this so I'm still not entirely sure that it's not Ubisoft's fault
- Slider is always maxed out while gaming
- I actually had a problem before this problem where the GPU wasn't detected, but I fixed that and now this is broken :(
Gaming on the Surface Book 2
So this has been a recent problem and I don't know if it's because I am part of the Windows Insider Program or if it's software. Whenever I play a game and put it into fullscreen, the CPU fan will spin down to barely audible. This decrease in fan speed really affects the performance of the game, especially in a game like Rainbow Six Siege where FPS is everything. It consistently drops the frames by 20 FPS. I have tried everything, my battery has always been in the highest performance mode, I have restarted my computer tens of times, and I have even uninstalled the game and re-installed just in case it was the games fault. The only time I have gotten it to work is when the game is in windowed mode (when you can see the desktop background). Not only does it not work with fullscreen mode but also borderless mode. I have actually had to put it into windowed and since the windowed mode is not very big and you can't adjust the window size I have had to go into settings every time I sit down for a gaming session and up the scale to 300%. I would really like this fixed as soon as possible. Could someone help me?

2018-11-12T23:05:32+00:00 Hello StylelessRose55,
Good day!
Thank you for answering our questions.
We'd like to confirm the following:
- Have you tried changing the resolution setting of your Surface device when playing Rainbow Six Siege in full screen mode?
- You mentioned on your reply to our Volunteer Moderator that you're not sure if the issue occurred before or after changing to Windows Insider, would you be able to test the game on another Surface or PC that is not on Insider Program?
- Would it be possible for you to try a similar game on your Surface to confirm if this issue is just isolated to this specific game?
Here are a few things we suggest that you do:
- Run the Service Diagnostic Toolkit: https://aka.ms/surfacerepair
2. Check and install latest Windows Update. To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available.
Regards,
Cleofe_P

2018-11-10T19:33:06+00:00 Thanks! I'll be sure to try that, although I don't remember if the problem started happening before of after I became a Windows Insider. In other words, I may help or do nothing at all! XD

2018-11-09T11:12:40+00:00 You need to reinstall 1803/17134 to see if you have this issue. If not, you
should report it in the Insiders Forum and specify which Insiders Build you have
installed. And use the Feedback Hub App to report this and specify what versions
of Windows it occurs with.

2018-11-09T10:39:00+00:00 Hi StylelessRose55,
We would like to know more about your issue.
- Are you trying to do this while on AC? – There are instances that the game requires too much power which is why we need to make sure that it is plug in all the time.
- Is this the only game running in the background? Is this the only program that runs extensively on the device?
- Was it working before?
- Any other game that you can try if it is doing the same thing?
Here are the few things I can suggest the customer do:
- Make sure that the battery slider is maxed out not just high performance.
- Go to NVDIA Control Panel and make sure that the NVDIA GPU is being used while running the game.
Keep us posted of the outcome. Thank you!
