Screen setting "When plugged in turn off after" turning off the screen at random times

I trolled around here and did not find the exact problem I'm having with my Surface Pro 4 (today).

A couple days ago I got to work and docked my Surface Pro 4 and started work. I was reading something and the screen turned off after about 10 seconds, which was odd since I have "When plugged in turn off after:" set to "1 hour." I checked, and it was still set to 1 hour. Up until that morning it had been working perfectly. There had been no updates or other software changes.

To troubleshoot I set it to "Never" and that fixed it. So I set it back to 1 hour, and this time the screen turned off after 1 min. So I set it to 5 hours, and it turned off after 5 min. So I set it to 45 min and it turned off after 1 min. I tried several other time length settings, and long story short, setting it to anything less than 5 hours results in the screen turning off after 1 min.

Anyone know what could cause this? Again, no software changes or updates have been done.

Looks like this has something to do with the drivers for some of your adapters on the Surface. Download and install the MSI files from this page to get the recommended firmware and drivers for your Surface Pro 4. Restart your Surface afterwards and see if the problem has been resolved.

Tell us if you see improvements after installing the updates.

Thank you.

Sorry, I see I missed your second question. I move the mouse to turn the screen on again.

FYI, I set it to "Turn Off: Never" and it turns off after 1 min. I also tried "after 5 min" and now it's turning off after exactly 55 seconds (I timed it with a stopwatch). ???

Also, the issue is the same undocked (but I don't mind since to save battery its fine if it turns off after 1 min).

Thanks. I had it set to 1 Min when undocked, and it does turn off after a min. I'll try changing the setting and report back.

    Hi Robert,

For us to isolate the issue, can you confirm if this is only happening when the Surface is connected to the docking station? When the screen turns off after 1 minute, what do you normally do to turn it back on again?

We'll keep an eye out for your response.

    Regards.

Nothing? Really? I'm the only one with this issue?

    Update:

Now the screen turns off after 1 minutes no matter what setting I have it on, including "Never."
