I got Sony MP-CL1A_A1 mobile projector and not able to connect to my Surface Pro 4 with windows 10 using miracast. Can somebody help? Or it's a waste of money if I cannot connect wirelessly?

The problem is specific to Surface Pro 4 after the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition upgrade. This projector works fine with another laptop running the same OS; only time I see this issue is with my Surface Pro 4. The WiFi Virtual Display Adapter driver is broken in this grand 'upgrade'.

No fix has been issued by our friends at MS as yet.

Here's how you get to the diagnosis:

Open a View Network Connections window on a side on your surface.

Now, try connecting to the wireless display the normal way (Settings->Display->Connect to Wireless Display...), while keeping an eye on the network connections window.

You'll see another WiFi connection icon flash out there for about half a second before vanishing.

If you're quick enough, right-click on this WiFi icon and see the properties. You won't find anything untowardly there; however, if you look at the Events area, you'll see a Device Not Migrated error message.

If I have it right, this is indicative of the driver breaking on the upgrade. MS needs to fix this for Marvel AVASTAR network adapter.

    Hi!!

Appreciate your response. I see a lot of posts for the same issues. Here are the details..

I have an MP-CL1 projector that I am attempting to use Miracast with to mirror my display. I am using a Microsoft Surface Pro 4, and have successfully used Miracast with televisions in the past with this laptop.

Every time that I attempt to use Miracast, I click "Connect to Wireless Display," and then on "MP-CL1_ED". The MP-CL1 displays "Connecting to remembered device ..." with a status bar, which gets to about 80%. The laptop says "Connected" and the resolution of the display changes to accomodate the MP-CL1. The MP-CL1 then displays "Session disconnected - Source device leaving session" and Miracast fails. I am able to connect my android device using Chromecast without issues. I am also able to connect to the Projector using HDMI cable without any issues. Two of my friends, who are also using Microsoft Windows 10 are able to connect to the projector using Miracast without any issues. Not sure if the problem is specific to my Microsoft Surface Pro 4 or some network adapter drivers in window 10 pro or channel width (wifi frequency)?

I purchased the MP-CL1 specifically for the wireless Miracast functionality. What can I do to make it work?

Have you tried deleting/removing all remembered devices/PC's from the MP-CL1? then restart both the Surface and the Project and try to connect without trying any of your other devices?

the specs on this are confusing, as Sony states " Wi-Fi® wireless connection

Connect to compatible Android devices via Wi-Fi using the wireless screen mirroring feature.^3"^Screen mirroring utilizes Miracast technology. Connections can be made with Miracast compatible devices. The transmitting device must support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) 2.0/2/1/2.2.

but claims Miracast capable on http://www.sony.com/electronics/projector/mp-cl1a/specifications

what exactly happens when you try to connect to this Sony device (full details)?
