Surface 3 Won't Turn On After Update

My Surface is a refurb no longer under warranty that was working beautifully last week. Then it updated.

It shut off twice and was impossible to turn back on, and a few days ago it did the same thing and i have yet to get it to turn back on.

It acknowledges the charge cord and lights up when attached. When i try to power button no response, but if I try tje volume up and power button hold, the charge cord will blink out about ten seconds in.

The same thing happens if I just hold down the power, but more quickly.

Once, using the second method, I got it to turn back on. But it soon shut off without notice .

Is there any way to fix this? I have been waiting because i was hoping to google a solution or find some reason its happening but I got nothing.

    Hello,

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you are experiencing with your Surface, it's never easy to experience downtime.

Try these troubleshooting steps as a first step, however I realize you may have tried this already:

    1. Press and hold the power button on your Surface for 30 seconds and then release it.
    2. Press and hold the volume-up button and the power button at the same time for at least 15 seconds and then release both. The screen may flash the Surface logo, but continue holding the buttons down for at least 15 seconds.
    3. After you release the buttons, wait 10 seconds.
    4. Press and release the power button to turn your Surface back on. You should see the Surface logo.

If these steps fail to boot your device, consider visiting a Microsoft Store and trying another charger. It may be as simple as having a defective charger. If that fails, you may need to send your device in for service.

Here is a link to find your nearest Microsoft Store: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/locations...

Good luck, I hope this helps.

    Michael

I dont think you're understanding. The computer is non responsive to its power button. I cannot even get into safe mode.

Try to boot in safe mode first

Power ON your computer and as Windows / manufacturer's Logo appears, Power OFF - Repeat 3 times

Now your computer will go into Advanced Recovery Environment

Advanced Options > Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart

Press 4 or F4 to enable Safe Mode (5 or F5 to enable Safe Mode with Networking)

Log in once Windows starts in safe mode
