What's the difference between Microsoft® SQ1™ vs Quad-core 10th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-1065G7 Processor. Can I install CAD software (solidworks) and National Instrument LabVIEW on Surface Pro X?

    Hi onyx_769 ,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community.

Intel is a CISC architecture processor, and SQ1 is a RISC architecture processor. The biggest distinction between them is how they support applications, Windows has quite a big of material on the distinctions https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/ . Though we continue to work with 3pp app developers on support for ARM64, at this time the list of 64bit apps does not include most CAD software packages. Our high level application compatibility guidance can be found here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/surface-pro-arm-app-performance

    Hope this information is helpful.

    Best regards,

The difference will be like night and day - no comparison, really.  Also, the SQ1 CPU will run 32-bit x86 apps but not 64-bit.

This is not a high end machine and used for general functions.  For what you want to do, the i7 Pro 7 machine would be desired and has the performance.

If undecided, wait until they actually ship and get into the hands of users.  This is a new breed of ARM processors which does have some promise and has been clocked to i5 level performance in some cases.  Those where experiments, though.

    Just wait!!!!!!
