The Surface Pro models (Pro, Pro 2, and Pro 3) did not come with Microsoft Office. Only the RT tablets (Surface RT and Surface 2). A 60 day trial was installed on most if not all.
The RT tablets cannot install regular Windows software and only apps from the Store, so, Microsoft created a recompiled version to be included for free with the RT tablets which is the Office Home & Student plus Outlook. That version of Office will not
install in a regular computer.
Granted, the machine is not a Surface tablet but you can check on the Asus Transformer series tablets. Both are x86 based and run regular Windows 8 and include a free copy of Microsoft Office Home & Student (no Outlook). The screen on those tablets are
a half inch smaller than the Surface tablets which might or might not be an issue. Microsoft sells them in their online store under the category "2 in 1".
As far as I know, those are the only Intel based tablets that would come with Microsoft Office.
With that said, at the college you will be going to, as a student you can get Microsoft Office at a super discount. Check with the school on that. If you get a Surface Pro model tablet and it comes with the trial version, it can be activated with the educator
Product Key for single machine use. Just make sure the school has the keys for Office 2013 and not Office 2010 like most of them do.
