Wired Headset for Surface Book? Can you plug earphones into the tablet portion?

Have you tried this headset with other devices? The audio jack on tablet is absolutely the way to go for this.

I tried plugging a wired headset in and I did not hear anything. Do I have to activate that port or is it not for a headset?  It's on the tablet portion even though the keyboard is still attached and I'm working at my desk. If I'm traveling on a plane and wanted to watch a movie or listen to music, there is no where to plus in a head set on the keyboard of a Surface book, so is the Tablet round port functional?  Can I plug a headset into that while it's still connected to the keyboard?  Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your experience to Microsoft Community. For Surface book, you can use the Headphone jack even if its in tablet mode or while its connected to the keyboard,  it is actually a 3.5mm headphone jack.
