The Surface overheated and is too hot to use. Please move it a cooler location and wait a while to cool down. Regular area operating temperature is between 0° and 35° Celsius.

Always keep it in the shade and make sure it has good air flow.

That is not temperature. It is the volume slider icon. Try this:

      -

        1. Press and hold the power button until the screen turns off (about 10

seconds), then release the power button.

        2. Press and release the power button to turn your Surface on. You

    should see the Microsoft logo.

         3. Press and hold down the power button until your Surface restarts and

you see the Windows logo screen (this takes about 20 seconds), then release the

    power button.

So hang on, Windows is running, but showing the thermometer icon somehow? Is there a picture of this I can get (with no identifying information such as email addresses or names?)

See if you can take a screenshot of it and if it shows up in a screenshot. Take a screenshot.

The temp box says 100 - This was yesterday - I did cool it down and it is operating fine but still has the temp box in the display - is there a way to remove it - I have shut down and restarted but still showing.
