I have it maxed at the settings and deleted Skype. I ran the same YouTube video on  a Nexus 7 side-by-side and it is about 25% louder. BTW, Nexus7 loaded all 4 videos I compared 3 times faster

    Hi NoBoundaries.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Have you enabled all of the enhancement options in Speaker properties? If not, I'd recommend making those adjustments.

We do appreciate the feedback and will pass it along to our product team.

Please let us know if there are any further questions we can help you with.

    To select enhancements:

    1. Swipe in from right edge, for Charms
    2. Tap or click Search
    3. Type "volume"
    4. Tap or click Adjust System Volume
    5. Tap or click Speaker icon
    6. Select Enhancements tab
    7. Check each item according to preference.

    Hi Danieleyassu,

The tablet is a lightweight device and not really designed as a powerhouse device. Most tablets are assumed to be a personal device and not really meant to be shared with lots of people. Therefore, it won't really be that loud as compared to a laptop or desktop PC, especially considering the ultra slim form factor of our tablets which, IMHO, also makes our devices look "sexy."

However, I find my sound to be sufficient on my Surface RT Tablet as long as I'm not in a noisy location. If I am, I simply use my earbuds or headphones. Even so, last night my two daughters watched/listened to several Dr. Seuss' books/apps on my tablet where it Auto Reads the story to them and they used the tablet's speakers to listen. Of course, at the time, it was quiet in the room (we had to turn off the radio).

There have been times when I wanted more output, maybe some background music at a dinner party, and I've used a 3rd party speaker with self-amplification (it is self-powered) which helped to fill the sound gap.

    I hope this helps!

    David

You can make sure you're currently at the highest possible volume levels by playing your YouTube video then RIGHT-CLICKING the SPEAKER icon in the BOTTOM RIGHT corner of the CLASSIC DESKTOP TASKBAR.

Choose OPEN VOLUME MIXER from the popup and make sure your DEVICE volume is all the way up as well as the volume slider for INTERNET EXPLORER or the APP you're trying to make louder.

The speakers are quite low on the device. They are plenty loud to hear in a quiet room, but if you plan on using it with a loud fan or a room with people talking, opt for head phones. They are what they are, there aren't really any options other than travel speakers or headphones.

Comparable to a couple of laptops I have, they're about the same.

    Hi lix2k3

Well there is a way to increase the sound of your Surface if you haven't done so recently.

    1. Go to your desktop
    2. Click on control panel
    3. Go to Hardware and Sound
    4. Click on Sound
    5. Select speakers and select properties
    6. Go to enhancements
    7. Click on loudness equalization and apply

There. Your speakers will be significantly louder and you don't need to invest into some external speakers. *even though I already have* XP

    Regards

    Kevin N.

    Hi Boonie46.

My apologies for your troubles. Have you had a chance to check your mixer volume settings, as Giselle had recommended? You may also want to consider using headphones or connecting speakers to Surface, for a louder audio experience.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Thanks!

    Hello mvb0351,

I haven't heard of an app like this yet, but have you thought about maybe using some speakers?

You can visit the Compatibility Center to see what speakers are compatible with the Surface with Windows RT.

Hmmm. I don't think you can go any louder than 100.

To get bigger sound I paired my Supertooth Bluetooth speaker with my Surface.
