Surface Keyboard Not Working.
How To Reinstall Surface Pro 3 Keyboard Drivers. This is a general hardware and software problem on all Surface Pro3's
Hi Guys,
This seems to be a general problem with surface pro 3's and their keyboard when any of the following happens:
- The device is in sleep mode and the battery runs out.
- The PC is on, not in sleep mode and the battery runs out.
Then the surface pro doesnt recognise the surface keyboard when restarted. Below is a screenshot when the keyboard works and the associated devices and drivers listed.
After that is a screen shot of when the keyboard isnt working.
This link [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4023473/surface-troubleshoot-your-surface-type-cover-or-keyboard#Solution1] doesnt always fix this problem, and to be honest, having to perform on a device everytime this happens is not acceptable for the sheer number of people whom suffer this problem. The second alternative is that Microsoft will request you send your device to have it replaced. Again, not an acceptable solution.
So, here you have it. How do we get the hardware and the software to be like the first screen shot so that has the [surface type cover filter device] is present? A weak attempt to solve this was posted here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfaccesso-surfkeyboard/surface-pro3-keyboard-not-working/fd1bab29-6206-46a8-801e-06694c773140. Again, this points to the troubleshooting which doesnt always solve this permanent problem.
Secondly, how and when is Microsoft going to resolve this.

>Removing the KB4074588 update might help resolve the issue. Some users tried to uninstall it and the keyboard started working again.

If we discover how to install the drivers manually that would be great.

charges and you restart the Surface, the typecover will go dead again. I've
asked an internal contact several times about this and don't get replies.

Thanks for replying. I let the device fully drain on the battery and my keyboard is now recognised. Is there a way to manually add the drivers?
It appears to be such a common problem even before that update, so my guess is that it something else entirely.
