Surface Pro 7 Plus Support After Windows Update

Hello,

This has been raised before but I would like to know whether Microsoft would consider repairing machines that have been made unusable after the latest Windows update.

My Surface Pro 7 + has been an amazing machine up until the other day when Microsoft rolled out their latest update when it simply stopped working.

I have tried everything including reloading Windows 11 entirely when it will work until the driver updates have completed then it will simply hang on the black screen.

It works fine in Safe mode which would suggest there is nothing wrong with the machine but it's a software fault.

I have installed the latest driver package from the Microsoft website (release date 29.04.24) but this doesn't help.

It's massively infuriating as I now have a useless expensive piece of tech through no fault of my own.

I remember stories of how Apple updated their phones but refused to help customers when the update blew the wifi or bluetooth chip but really didn't expect this from Microsoft.

I tried speaking to customer service who simply said it would cost £389 to repair! You caused the problem Microsoft why should I have to pay??????

If anybody has found a workaround for this please let me know.

Or, if Microsoft are willing to help that would be fantastic.

If anyone wants to know in detail what I have done to try and rectify this then just ask and I'll go into greater detail.

Good luck all and come on Microsoft restore my faith in you.

Cheers,

Mike

As a reply to my own question because Microsoft haven't bothered.

The issue was the HID Sensor Collection V2 that caused the laptop to fail.

I had to restart it in safe mode and find all the devices that weren't enabled then re-enable them in batches and narrow it down restarting it to see when it failed. This was such a pain in the a**e!

Basically I have had to disable this and live without the automatic rotation which is a bit of a pain but I'd rather have the machine working.

    Hope this can help someone.

    Cheers,

    Mike

It worked for me perfectly thank you so much!

For any others with the problem,

when you boot into safe mode all you have to do is press the windows key+ x and open device manager.

In device manager scroll till you get to sensors expand it then disable the thing by right clicking and pressing disable then ok. Then you should be good to restart the device.
