Use & Compatability of Surface Arc Mouse?

I have been looking for a new mouse. I have a Macbook Air (2019) and I have been finding the trackpad frustrating. I have been using a Logitech M570 wireless trackball mouse for several years and I am very used to the mouse being stationary and not having to move it, especially since I tend to do a lot of work away from a desk or mousepad. I have looked at videos of the Arc mouse and had my eye on it for a couple weeks, but have been hesitant to buy it because I still have questions.

  1. Is it even compatible with a Macbook Air?
  2. I know it is an optical mouse but can the cursor be moved with the touch pad instead of actually moving the mouse? How customizable are the settings and is the tracking decent? I read a lot of reviews that said it was jumpy or laggy.

    Hi LJBunny,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

Is it even compatible with a Macbook Air? >> Surface Arc Mouse requires host to support Bluetooth 4.0 or higher. Please check if your MacBook Air supports this Bluetooth version.

can the cursor be moved with the touch pad instead of actually moving the mouse? >> No, the plane on the mouse is for scrolling (vertical and horizontal) functions. Mouse has to be move to move the cursor.

How customizable are the settings and is the tracking decent? >>> For customization on the mouse functions or buttons, you need to install the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. I'm afraid that there is no compatible version of the center for IOS devices. Thus, without the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center installed : it will only allow you to use its default settings.
