Surface Pro 4, keyboard cover and Bluetooth not working.

My Surface Pro 4 was working fine for several years. Few weeks ago, keyboard cover stopped working. While troubleshooting, I realized bluetooth is not working as well (it was working fine before). Surface is behaving, like there is no bluetooth. In UEFI, bluetooth is enabled, but in windows no bluetooth is recognized.
Even after I reinstalled windows on Surface Pro 4, again no bluetooth and keyboard cover is not working, althouth the same keyboard is working on other Surface. I cleaned ports, but it is not helping.
Any idea?

The typecover issue sadly is not new (and there really is no fix) Results in Surface - Microsoft Community shows the history of complaints about this. As for the Bluetooth issue (and possibly the USB issue with the dock), disconnect all peripherals including the dock, typecover and anything plugged directly into the USB port on the Surface itself. Turn on your Surface. While at the desk top, hold the power button for 60 seconds until the Surface turns off. Then power on normally (this clears/resets the hardware cache) and see if anything has changed.

    Hi Rok Rogelj,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We appreciate for sharing your concern with us.

Have you test the keyboard to another Surface device and see if it works?

Or test another typecover(keyboard) to your Surface. This will help us isolate the problem if it's with the keyboard or the device itself.

Type cover doesn't need to be connected via Bluetooth for it to function. When you say no Bluetooth is recognized, do you mean you no longer have the option to turn on and off the Bluetooth function in the Settings app?

If you don't see the Bluetooth icon, but Bluetooth does appear in Device Manager, try to uninstall the Bluetooth adapter and trigger an automatic reinstall. Here's how:

    1. In the search box on the taskbar, enter device manager, then select Device Managerfrom the results.
    2. In Device Manager, select Bluetooth. Press and hold (or right-click) the Bluetooth adapter name (which may include the word “radio”), and select Uninstall device.
    3. Select Start, then select Power > Shut down.
    4. After your device shuts down, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Windows will try to reinstall the driver.
    5. If Windows doesn't reinstall the driver automatically, open Device Manager and select Action > Scan for hardware changes.

To further troubleshoot your device, see: Fix Bluetooth problems in Windows - Microsoft Support.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia

    Hey Levenia,

I already did all the steps before.

I checked the Bluetooth setting in UEFI boot. Although it was enabled, I disabled it for a while and then re-enable it again. Did reboot, but no change. I even reset the whole Surface, reinstall fresh copy of Windows, but no change.

    Any additional idea?

Check Bluetooth in the BIOS/UEFI if disabled. To load the UEFI firmware settings menu:

    1. Shut down your Surface and wait about 10 seconds to make sure it's off.
    2. Press and hold the volume-up button on your Surface, and, at the same time, press and release the power button.
    3. The Microsoft or Surface logo appears on your screen. Continue to hold the volume-up button. Release the button once the UEFI screen appears.

If Bluetooth is enabled, disable it for few seconds and enable it back. Then restart your Surface. If issue persist, you may need to reset your Surface. See Restore or reset Surface for Windows - Microsoft Support for the options.

    Dear Lavenia,

I will try to answer your questions in structured way:

    1. I've tested keyboard on another Surface Pro. My Keyboard is working on another Surface Pro, while also another working keyboard from another Surface Pro is not working on my Surface. That gives me clear sign, keyboard is working fine, something is wrong with my Surface device and not the keyboard.
    2. Ma operating system actually doesn't recognize Bluetooth. I don't have an option do enable/disable it. It doesn't appear on the Device manager list not even in the Settings. That is why it makes no sense to follow the steps you suggested through Device manager.
    3. The link you provided is related mainly to updating the Bluetooth drivers and similar (enabling/disabling it), but as said, Bluetooth is not recognized in my operating system.

Another interesting behaviour: When I connect my Surface Pro to Surface docking station, keyboard connected to it, is not recognized. Display is recognized and the display is duplicated to external monitor, but USB devices are not. That gives me an idea, there is some broader problem...maybe with the mainboard, chipset?

    Please give me some suggestions.
