Hi,

Unfortunately, after recent updates, my Surface Pro 7 screen will not turn on any more, stays black.
So, I have to use an external monitor. It can still use my face to sign in so the cameras are working.

I have seen other issues such as this one in the community and tried everything from downloading drives to a full reset.

I just disabled the Tcon driver and played around with update which said the the driver was ok etc. but did not really do anything.

Then I re-enabled the Tcon driver and IT WORKED.

Intermittent problems are usually the hardest to find a problem with.

    It's not resolved.

After being without rebooting for a few days then I can get the TCon device to work.

But as soon as the Surface Pro is restarted the TCon device fails again, wait for a few days . . .

I intend to send the Surface for repair but having to post it and wait for the return means that I am without my main PC for at least a week. It is just a few months out of warranty but it's a high spec device so it's worth repairing.

Thanks for keeping me posted, GerardIE.

Glad you were able to find a fix on your own.

Thanks for the response, this Surface Pro 7 is about 5 months out of warranty. It's got 16G RAM with and i7 processor and 500G storage, so I guess it's worth repairing.

However, I will not be able to leave it in for repair, since my other PCs are not suitable for most of my work.

    Hello GerardIE,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community. I understand how frustrating it is to still have such particular issue even after performing a full reset. Please do know that this is not the experience we want you to have. But still I'd like to appreciate your time and effort in trying to fix the problem on your end.

At this point, since full reset did not work, then we might be dealing with a potential hardware problem. Any hardware related issues are best handled by our Microsoft assisted support. In this case, I highly suggest to contact them at Contact Us Microsoft Support. to diagnose the issue more and check your replacement options if necessary.

You can also contact them at Global Customer Service phone numbers (microsoft.com) underFor Business users. This also works with Home users, just select Surfacethen Homeas a type of user in the IVR prompt.

    I hope this helps.
