USB C Ports are not working

I have been using my Microsoft Surface Pro 9 for over a year with two external screens by using two HDMI ports from a "ABIWAZY" multiport connector. It has worked great until today.

I just returned from a trip to Brazil and when I hooked back into my system but my computer can no longer detect my monitors. I have rechecked all cables (multiple times), tried new cables. I changed out my ABIWAZY with my Surface USB-C Travel Hub for Business, which I use for travel (which has worked fine in the past), but all to no avail. On my trip, I did charge my cell phone with the Microsoft Travel Hub.

Additional information is that I tried to hook a web camera directly to my laptop with the USB ports. and that is not working either. So this is probably a USB port issue and not a display issue.

Your help would be appreciated.

    Hi Brad,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Surface Pro 9's USB-C ports.

Here's some info about USB-C ports on Surface and troubleshooting tips. Troubleshoot problems with USB-C on Surface - Microsoft Support

    • Check Device Manager: Go to Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Device Manager." Look for any yellow exclamation marks or error symbols next to USB devices. If you see any, Choose the device, press and hold (or right-click) it, and then select Properties. The error code is displayed under Device status.
    • Reset USB Ports: Unplug your USB-C device, then shut down your Surface by selecting Start > Power > Shut down. After 10 seconds, press and hold the Power button for about 20 seconds until the Windows logo appears, disappears, then appears again. After that, plug in your USB-C device again.

If none of these steps resolve the problem, there may be a hardware issue with the USB-C ports on your Surface Pro 9. In that case, it may be necessary to seek repair service. How to get service or repair for Surface - Microsoft Support

Remember to back up your data before sending your device for repair to ensure you don’t lose any important information. I hope this helps, and your Surface Pro 9 is back to working smoothly soon!
