My surface pro 8 won't turn on. I have tried various recommendations including pressing the power + volume up button but it turns off before entering the uefi menu.

When the charger is plugged in, the indicator blinks.

    Hi Marrion,

I restarted the device from the boot menu (thankful it stayed on long enough for me to do that). Then I reinstalled the OS. I'm running Win 11 Enterprise 21H2.

The device seems to be working fine now

    Hi Micael Ondoa,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your Surface Pro 8 turning on and off.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that your Surface Pro 8 is not able to boot up properly. This could be caused by a number of factors, such as a software issue, a hardware problem, or a battery-related issue.

First, regarding the blinking indicator light on your charger, please try these steps below to troubleshoot the charger since a blinking LED indicates that the charger is unable to supply power to the Surface:

1: Disconnect PSU and check its connection

Unplug the power connector from side of device.

Unplug the PSU from the wall outlet.

Check that the power cord is securely attached to the power supply.

Unplug any USB devices from the charge port on the power supply.

Wipe the pins on the power connector with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth (microfiber cloths work great).

Plug the PSU back into the wall outlet. If possible, try a different wall outlet.

Plug the power connector back into side of device.

Verify that all connections are secured.

2: Check for any physical damage

Check the PSU for any physical damage on its connectors, brick and cables.

3: Change the orientation of the power connector

Try turning the connector that attaches to the side of the Surface and plug it on a different position.

To troubleshoot the issue on the Surface, I recommend that you try the following steps:

    1. Disconnect all external devices and accessories from your Surface Pro 8, including the charger, keyboard, and mouse.
    2. Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds, then release it.
    3. Press and hold the power button and the volume up button at the same time for at least 15 seconds, then release both buttons.
    4. Wait for a few seconds, then press the power button to turn on your Surface Pro 8.

If your Surface Pro 8 still does not turn on properly after performing these steps, it may be a hardware issue. In this case, I recommend that you contact our live support for options available and for further assistance. You can reach our live support through these steps below:
