    Hi nvas7407!

Thanks for getting back to us!

As mentioned, we highly do not recommend our customers to open devices and change components on their Surface devices. It would be best to contact live Microsoft support team for further assistance on this.

Thanks again for choosing Microsoft. Hope this helps!

I have this exact problem! 1st gen Surface book- no warranty- too far out of date- I need to change the batteries myself. Please don't say you don't recommend this again. We just need to know what battery is the right one to use.

    Thanks!

    Hi Rodelio

    I used

    (Get-CimInstance -Namespace root\wmi -ClassName MS_SystemInformation).SystemSKU

    But it returns only Surface_Book.

My surface book is long out of warranty and Microsoft will not service it to change batteries as the model is out of support. I am forced to change this on my own and so i am trying to figure out what battery model to buy for keyboard and display. Can you help please? My surface app says Surface Book i7

    Thanks!

    Hi nvas7407!

Thanks for getting back to us!

You may also try via PowerShell by entering the command below:

    Get-CimInstance -Namespace root\wmi -ClassName MS_SystemInformation).SystemSKU

Disclaimer: We highly do not recommend our customers to open devices and change components as this will void any warranty on your Surface device.

    Hope this helps!

    Regards,

    RodelioP.

    Hi

None of these show me if it’s 1785. They all just say surface book.
