How to match a dongle to the product ID that is listed on the mouse?

Hey guys,

I have a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 1000 that was originally paired with a Wireless Keyboard 850 using a single dongle. Currently, I have several misplaced dongles and keyboards in my company, and it's challenging to determine which dongle corresponds to each keyboard.

I am working on organizing them and matching the correct dongle to it's respective keyboard. The problem I encountered is that while I can match the keyboard and the mouse based on a product ID located on the back of both devices, I couldn't find the dongle's product ID directly on the dongle or in the drivers.

Could you please guide me on how to find the product ID for the dongle?

    Hi Yaniv Mendiuk,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. I understand that you have a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 1000 that was originally paired with a Wireless Keyboard 850 using a single dongle, and you want to know how to find the product ID for the dongle. I appreciate your efforts in trying to match the keyboard and the mouse based on the product ID located on the back of both devices.

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to find the product ID for the dongle, as it is not printed on the dongle itself or in the drivers. Most of Microsoft's newer wireless mouse products do not support user "pairing", which means that the mouse and the nano transceiver are matched at the factory and cannot be paired with another transceiver. This also means that you cannot use another transceiver with your mouse if you lose or break the original one. The only way to identify which dongle belongs to which keyboard and mouse is to test them one by one until you find a working combination. You can do this by plugging in a dongle to your computer, turning on the keyboard and the mouse, and checking if they work properly. If they do not work, try another dongle until you find the right one. You can also use a label maker or a marker to label each dongle with its corresponding keyboard and mouse product ID once you find them.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. I hope this information helps you resolve your issue. Thank you for choosing Microsoft Surface products. Have a great day!

    Hey Marrion,

    That sounds very depressing hahahaha

Isn't any other option to might get other information from the driver and the dongle?

I see for example there is PN serial number.
