Surface devices adhere to all laws and guidelines related to temperature and thermal. You can refer to public information on adherence at Safety Information . See the sections called “Heat related concerns” and “Heat related concerns for wearable devices”, and follow it's guidelines on how to handle when your device gets too hot.
Regarding the screen flickering, it may be due to a driver issue or software conflict. Please give these methods a try and observe your device:
- Force a shut down and restart your Surface. It resets the hardware and clears all the cache and memory for your hardware.
- Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check for Windows Update. Make sure to check View Optional features and select all necessary updates for your device. Restart the Surface after installing updates.
- Update drivers and firmware Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by typing winveron the search barnear the Windows logo. Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface**,**choose (your Surface model) then click Download.
Choose the .msi file that matches or nearest to your current OS Build and click Next.
After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.
Check if issue is present in UEFI. See How to get to the UEFI settings on a Surface for more details. If flickering occurs in UEFI, then we know it's potentially related to a hardware failure on the display. For any hardware issue, kindly contact Microsoft Surface Support to seek exchange options for your device. If you're located outside United States, see Global Support. Replacement cost applies to out of warranty device and for further service.
