Hello Sam,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
I appreciate you raising this concern to us and I understand that you're having issues with your Surface. Before anything else, allow me to ask a question:
- Are you using an Apple phone or an Android phone?
To convert your photos to JPEG format, you can use any of the following methods:
- Using Paint in Windows: Open the image in Paint and navigate to File > Save As. In the Save As window, choose the JPEG format on the Save As Type drop-down menu and then click the Save button.
- Use a photo editing app on your phone to convert the HEIC files to JPEGs before transferring them to your laptop.
- If your photos are saving as HEIC files, it means that your phone is set to save photos in that format. To save your photos as JPEGs, you can change the settings on your phone to save photos in that format.
- For iPhone users, go to Settings > Camera > Formats and select "Most Compatible" to save photos as JPEGs.
- For Android users, the process may vary depending on the phone model and operating system version. However, you can usually change the photo format by going to the camera app settings and selecting "JPEG" as the preferred format.
Once you have changed the settings on your phone, any new photos you take should save as JPEGs. If you want to convert your existing HEIC photos to JPEGs, you can use a photo editing software or an online converter tool.
Let me know if this helps!
Best regards,
Rolando S.
