Sky Go For Desktop using Windows 11 Media Controls

I've recently bought a Surface Laptop Studio, which has physical keyboard and touchscreen keyboard. It's the first Windows O/S device I've had for about 22 yrs. Windows 11 is different but familiar.

I recently got the UK Sky TV's Sky Go For Desktop and downloaded from the Sky TV website.

All plays OK and connects to my Sky Q box via WiFi and I can see my Sky Q Box recordings and watch programmes on my laptop OK.

However, I've noticed there are some onscreen media controls missing from this version of the app and I wondered if I'm being a bit dense or maybe I don't know correct shortcuts.

So, for those of you who have downloaded and used the Sky Go App For Desktop(Windows) are you able to see on screen soft keys and are you able to:

  1. Skip forwards¹ 10 secs or 30 seconds?

2.Skip backwards¹ 10 secs or 30 seconds?

  1. Delete² recordings you've watched using your laptop or Windows tablet?

¹The [skip forward 30 secs] and [skip backwards 30 secs] in Android/IOS apps are normaly soft keys on either side of the touchscreen [Play/Pause] buttons are usually in the centre of touchscreen but are missing on the latest desktop/Windows app.

²The [Delete] button in Android/IOS apps is normally just below the program description but is missing on the latest desktop/Windows app.

Troubleshooting

I've tried:

  1. Tapping [arrows] keys on physical keyboard to skip in either direction which works for most videos but not Sky TV.
  2. I've also tried the keys [J, K, L] which works for other videos e. g. YouTube but doesn't work for Sky
  3. I've tried double tapping either side of the touchscreen [Play/Pause] soft key which works in some video apps but not for Sky
  4. Using the progress slider but it's quite short and clumsy, inaccurate and hard with a hand disability,
  5. I've gone to [Windows-Settings-Apps-SkyGo app] to see if there are any advanced settings for the app to enable any extra media controls, but there is only an [Uninstall] option.
  6. I've [Right Click]ed on the Sky Go app everywhere I find it in File Explorer to see if it brings up]a list of options.
  7. I've [Uninstalled],ensured its deleted the Sky Go app and its associated files and [reinstalled]
  8. I've tried using the usual gestures on 3 different types of wireless earbuds and 1 pair of wired headphones to see if that worked as actions to skip music tracks sometimes work on videos. .
  9. I've gone into [Settings-Sound-Advanced Settings] and [Properties] to turn on and turn off the [Allow this app to take exvlusive control of this device]°

I've run out of ideas. It's not the end of the World or anything but when there's a Windows quirk it bugs me and I have to know if it's me or just the way it works on Windows. Having used an Android tablet for years and actually doing knitwear design on a Samsung Galaxy phone, a laptop is a luxury and it's my first ever portable PC/laptop but Windows 11 is a bit slow and clunky compared with my Android devices and I did a lot of work on my phone, it wasn't all about social media. However work with full sized pen and Affinity Désigner/Publisher/Photo suite is so much better.
