Hello, My surface keyboard dropped off and won't connect with my laptop. It appears in the list of bluetooth devices and when I click on it and enter the PIN, it says it's connecting, but then tells me it doesn't work and to try again. I've tried it about 6 times with new batteries and it's still not working. Please help. Thanks!

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you're having trouble pairing your Surface keyboard with your laptop. I am here to help and let us work on this together. Allow me to ask some questions so we can further isolate the problem.

    • May I know what device did you pair the keyboard with?
    • Is there a way for you to try connecting the keyboard to another laptop and see if it connects?
    • Or try connecting another Bluetooth accessory on your laptop and see if it connects?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Make sure your keyboard is turned on and in pairing mode. To do this, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the keyboard until the LED light starts flashing.
    2. Remove the keyboard from your laptop's list of paired devices and try pairing it again. To do this, go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices, click on the keyboard, and then click Remove device.
    3. Restart your laptop and try pairing the keyboard again.
    4. Check for any updates available on your laptop.
    5. If none of the above step's work, try resetting your keyboard. To do this, press and hold the pairing button located beside the Battery case.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, kindly give answers to the questions above so we can further isolate your issue and formulate appropriate troubleshooting steps.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia

I found a post (which I could not find now) that helped me resolve the issue. Instead of just pressing the bluetooth button, press the Fn key as well. It worked for me!

Same thing happened to me...I used to pair it to 2 different computers for years and suddenly some of the keys stopped to function. So I tried to unpair/repair it then impossible to connect... The LED blinks, but whatever I do after that i wont connect. I tested every solutions without result. It is a shame to buy a so expensive device then it stops working with no reason.
