Good Morning everyone.

My name is Chris I am reaching out to see if anyone would like to join in to file a lawsuit against Microsoft I already believe I have a Lawfirm in mind. Let me tell you my story. Back when the First Surface Book came out I had so many problems between screen flickering, crackling and popping of my speakers, keyboard issues, battery issues, they had to replace my computer 3 times in the store. Then I called Microsoft and unfortunately, I did not want a Surface Book anymore I just wanted my money back. They refused, of course, My current computer was as well not working, I was mad after about a month they finally decided to replace it again so they had me send in my computer which I did. I was happy I thought my problems were over. So I get the computer back and wow it was the Surface Book 2 instead so I powered it on and of course, it had no battery. So I loaded it up and to my surprise, I had to call Microsoft again. I had no batteries! NO CHARGING happening at all. They thought the batteries were disconnected imagine that. So there when another shipment to Microsoft again. So then I received the new computer Now we are talking about computer Number 5 From Microsoft here guys number 5 this is crazy. Its a lack of responsibility. But here is the real killer So my new computer was perfect. Which was great I had it for 2 years 1 month. Have you ever heard the saying your product will stop functioning after a warranty so you have to buy a new one. Well, that is normal because the cost of repairs is so expensive you just need to buy a new one or have it non-warranty replaced for $700.00 because Microsoft refuses to take Personal responsibility. So about 2 weeks agoish I had pulled my computer out of its bag where it was at. I was using it everything was going well until i smelt smoke. I looked around and then noticed it was coming from my computer. I pulled the Charging cord out of my laptop and the sucker started popping with big sparks flying out of the Charging section of the Charger I had to rip it from the wall. I almost got shocked and if I was not with the computer at the time, I could have lost everything. I have Children that live in this house with me.

So let's talk about Microsoft. They are the most Irresponsible company and oh man they love to charge and get what they can from customers. Especially if it is not your fault it happens and Microsoft will make sure you know that it is your fault. Also, buy making you pay for something you should not have to. I will enclose a letter about how a people looked at a photo and FOUND supposedly particles that caused a fire. I would really like to know how they found them without even having the device there. They would not let me send my device in for inspection without paying 700 dollars for them to replace it. I told them my computer was not abused, neglected, anything at all. I am also going to provide you with a link that I would hope everyone that reads this would go to the United States CONSUMER PRODUCT SAFETY COMMISSION and file your own complaint against Microsoft so this will stop. I have filed mine which they are working on now. I am done being Swindled by these big companies. I know it 700 dollars but these companies and others take you for what they can, They lie and blame it on you so they can get the money worth it is wrong and I am done so I am Fighting back.

You may be able to see all kinds of things on photo’s! You people are stating that particle using a camera! How can you properly inspect something without having it at your side! This does not make since! You guys make it sound like I just left my computer setting out instead of having it in my computer bag! This is not ok I don’t know why you guys are saying this! I am trying to be reasonable with Microsoft I have not filed any complaint against you Guy yet! This was not my fault I took care of that computer the only thing wrong with it was one of the anti slip strips are missing and I don’t know where to get one! But everyone says it’s my fault! And it is not

Hi Christopher,

During our engineer's inspection, they were able to see evidence of small particles inside of the Surface's charging port. These particles can make contact with the metal pins on the Surface power supply and charging port, which can cause the issue that you reported. As the particle contamination is not a malfunction of the Surface, but a result of the environment in which the device is used, we can conclude that the incident that you experienced was caused externally.

As stated in my previous email, it is important to follow all care and cleaning guidelines to ensure that your Surface can last. You can find these  uidelines here:

Clean and Care for your Surface

If you would like to create an exchange order for your Surface and power supply, please see the Support site linked below. Please be aware that there may be a charge associated with any order, based on your Surface's warranty status.

I have a surface book 2 currently. My power cord was plugged in when smoke started coming out of the magnetic connection. The computer base no longer works properly and the magnetic connection on the cord is fried. I was hoping Microsoft would be understanding as it was not my fault and I am using this computer for school so replacement would be unreasonable for it not being my fault. I contacted Tech support on the phone but communicating with them is very difficult. I attempted to speak with a supervisor but was not able to get a phone number, name, or email for them. Hoping Microsoft can replace my computer and charger that's all I want, good computer unfortunate tech issue.
