Hi all,

So i have noticed an issue recently when i wake up my computer from sleep mode and sign in, my wifi symbol doesnt appear connected but when i check my wifi settings it says i am connected. I am unable to open my outlook app and my onedrive also goes offline when this happens too.

I have already tried; disconnecting my computer and re entering my wifi password to connect again, turning off my wifi and turning back on again and still does not fix issue. The only fix i have been able to find so far is restarting my computer completely which can be really annoying if i am working on something.

Anybody else have this issue and have a long term fix ??

P.S running surface pro x with a microsoft SQ1 ARM based processor

    Hi Christopher,

Thank you for your response regarding this issue. In the first set of recommendations you say to click on the "power management tab" in the properties pop-up but i dont have this tab when following your steps. I have attached a screenshot for your reference. Is there an alternative way to access this power saving option/box??

    Hi KaelumB,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft customer support. I understand that you are having trouble with your Surface Pro X’s Wi-Fi connectivity after it wakes up from sleep mode. I’m sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

This issue may be caused by a power-saving feature that turns off the Wi-Fi adapter when the device is in sleep mode. To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

    1. Open the Device Manager by pressing the Windows key + X and selecting Device Manager from the menu.
    2. Expand the Network adapters section and locate your Wi-Fi adapter.
    3. Right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter (Qualcomm(R) WIFI B/G/N/AC) and select Properties.
    4. Click on the Power Management tab.
    5. Uncheck the box that says, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
    6. Click OK to save the changes.

You need also check Windows update on your Surface.

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Click Windows Update.
    3. Select Check for Windows updates.
    4. Click Install Now if updates are available.

If the issue still persists, we will be going to refresh the network driver on your Surface.

    1. Open the Device Manager by pressing the Windows key + X and selecting Device Manager from the menu.
    2. Expand the Network adapters section and locate your Wi-Fi adapter.
    3. Right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter (Qualcomm(R) WIFI B/G/N/AC) and select uninstall.
    4. Then do not put any check mark that say complete delete. Just click uninstall or okay below.
    5. Then, restart the Surface to apply changes.
    6. Once the device is on install again the WIFI and then observe if the issue is fix.

I hope I have answered all your questions. Please let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Christopher.

UPDATE: This issue has NOT been fixed and is still ongoing. I have even tried to roll back the driver but i have had no option to do this.

I have attached a photo of the roll back option greyed out.

    Hi KaelumB

Thank you for your response. I appreciate the picture you shared with us. I noticed that there is no power management option under the Network Adaptor driver. Can you confirm if you are logged in as an administrator on your Surface device?

When you click the advance tools, do you see power management? Just in case there is no power management option. We will continue to the next steps.

After checking if the issue persists, try to roll back the Wi-Fi driver to version. 1.0.1720.0 see if the issue is fixed. Then check if the "power management tab" shows up.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Kind Regards,

    Christopher.
