Using a surface pro as a computer

I just purchased a surface pro only to learn that it is basically a Chromebook with additional memory. How do I use it as a standalone computer. I don't have Internet access everywhere I want to use it. I just want a computer that functions when I turn it on. Right now it only lets me access it when I'm online. I don't have a keyboard so shift f10 doesn't seem to work on the digital keyboard. Am ready to throw away a $1500 dollar purchase because I can't seem to resolve this and you refuse to offer phone support. Looking for a solution or at a confirmation that the surface pro is not an actual laptop and I should seek a different, other than Microsoft option.

    Hello, JL_026.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

The Surface Pro 11 is still essentially a standalone computer that can be operated off the keyboard as you can open the on-screen keyboard directly by touching the part where you need to type.

If you are still not satisfied with this device, then you can indeed return this device without any reason within 60 days of its purchase. You can contact the sales representative directly.

If you are still unable to reach a support person, I can share with you the steps to create a service order:

Open the Surface App (usually built into your Surface device, or you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't have one) and follow the procedure below:

    1. Click "Help and Support" and then click "Get Help".
    2. Briefly describe your problem in the text box, such as "I need a Surface refund.", and then press Enter.
    3. Click "Contact Support" at the bottom.
    4. Select "Technical Support" and click "Confirm".
    5. You will see "Chat support" and "Phone support" options, please contact them during working hours, you will get one-to-one support services.

In fact I think Surface Laptop 7 will be the better choice for you:

Meet the new Surface Laptop 7th Edition, a Copilot+ PC | Microsoft Surface

These are some of the thoughts I can share with you at this time.

I have respect for your thoughts and opinions.

    Best Regards.
