Surface Laptop 7 w/Touchscreen - Microsoft Surface Pen and Slim Pen 2 are apparently not compatible

Is there a stylus that will work with the new Surface Laptop 7? As bizarre as it sounds the Microsoft Surface Pen and Slim Pen 2 are apparently not compatible with the ARM processors. I'm at a loss as to why they would not make the newest device compatible with their existing pens.

    Hi jblance64,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern about the compatibility of styluses with the Surface Laptop 7th Edition. Unfortunately, Surface Laptop 7th Edition does not have support for pen input.

This is a piece of information I would like to have had prior to purchasing said laptop all the surface devices I have accept pen input and I assumed as I saw nothing to the contrary that the 7 would also, explains why all the pens I purchased and the blogs etc. do not cover this when troubleshooting.

So is this a fait a complit or is it something that can be resolved with an update?, for a laptop that is being sold as a breakthrough it seems a bit weird and microsoft keeping that fact to themselves is not smart.

Surface + pen has shaped how I work since the first Surface was released. I also find this bizarre news that Surface Pens are not compatible with Surface Laptop 7. I also bought the Surface Laptop 7 assuming it would have pen input. MSFT support informed me that they are working on a driver package update for this known issue. I could not get an estimated date however. I am also considering returning my laptop. Such a bummer. I waited for this one.

I have the same question, can this be fixed with an update? I've been holding off buying one until I can find a co-pilot plus PC that will support inking. I have been told by Best Buy that the I have been told by Best Buy that the surface laptop 7 does support the bamboo pen can you confirm that?

I agree - what a nonsense. "Surface" should mean you can use Surface products , so logically new laptop 7th edition can use Surface Pen. MADNESS that it cant. Microsoft sort yourselves out!!
