Surface Laptop 2 Missing WIFI Driver

The lovely Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. driver update for Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller is missing from a computer I support. I resolved the issue other times on other computer by first downloading the Firmware from Microsoft and boom it is fixed. But on the rainy day the Microsoft Gods laugh at me.

I wish to not go to the extreme of reimaging this computer because I do not have a clean Windows image, and the USB I do have has a Windows 10 Home version on it not Pro. I even went to Marvell website and downloaded the 64 bit version but no dice. I currently have this Surface Laptop 2 on a docking station connected to an ethernet cable. I am open to suggestions while I attempt to steal a Windows 10 Pro ISO from the internet, so far 1 hour in on a 12 hour download.

Any troubleshooting advice will be handy. :)

Not at all. I contacted customer service and let them know. Hey i reimaged this computer, reinstalled the firmware, and checked if the UEFI enabled wifi. Still no Wifi adaptor. They were like damn okay, we checked the serial number and we got you.

Took about 6 days to get it back and it work working fine. Had a small issue with the computer i got back was windows 10 Home and not pro. But again reached out and they gave me a license key for Windows 10 Pro after an hour on the phone.

It is 650 for a windows surface/pro if it is not under warranty.

    Hello,

I did all the recommendations that I could do with this device. Still not resolved however. I headed to the website while connected with a local access network cable and no change on all the firmware downloads. I then reimage the machine from a image from the Microsoft Website, now my Windows 10 Pro edition is stuck on Windows 10 Home edition, with no real way of resolving. After the reimage I downloaded the firmware again and still no change.

I believe the issue could be the hardware itself because I am baffled on the resistance this WIFI adaptor is giving me. The computer seems to think it is gone. Check out the screenshots below, these are after all the troubleshooting steps I listed above.

Anymore advice I will be happy to receive, Thank you!

    Hi Dylan__B,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

What I can suggest is to reinstall the driver again by downloading the first msi file you can see from this link >> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=57515. If re-downloading the driver pack will not resolve  the issue, this means that we need to reimage the Surface device using a USB recovery drive.

If this helps, feel free to mark this post as an answer. Otherwise, please don't hesitate to respond to this thread for further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest_Z
