The Copilot button replaces the Apps/Menu button that has been on keyboards for many years. And not too many people use it.
Are there any benefits the Surface Pro 10 and Laptop 6 have over their predecessors that aren't AI-related?
I understand how that stuff can be useful in a lot of situations, but I feel like all the marketing around these two devices is centered on the AI-related things baked into them and not what's been upgraded over the last models. How is this new CPU going to blow up the last one in terms of performance? Are the keys nicer? Does the battery last longer? Is there anything these new PCs have over the last ones that aren't centered around Copilot?

2024-06-04T14:53:13+00:00 I still feel like a Copilot button is a waste of space, I'm pretty sure there's already a keybind that does that.
Also, Recall is THE SAME THING I just criticised for being a privacy nightmare. Why are you still trying to sell this to me?

2024-06-03T17:09:06+00:00 I can't speak for Microsoft, I'm a Volunteer. My view on these two devices is that they are the typical V.Next for Business that Microsoft has brought to market each year.
SP10 for business/Laptop 6 for Business doesn't have Recall like SP11/Laptop 7 - Recall requires 40TOPS and these Intel chips only support 10TOPS.

Yes, there is a Copilot button, but, at least for now, all it does is launch the Copilot app as a convenience.

2024-06-03T16:07:04+00:00 It's been two weeks since I posted this and I've heard absolutely nothing from Microsoft. Wow.
It's kinda obvious that Microsoft is just jumping on a fad and milking their userbase when they can't even justify why their new laptops are any different than last year's.
Simply put, I'm pretty sure these are almost the exact same laptops from last year with unremovable "AI" crapware like Recall shoved in. (I love something I can't easily turn off that tracks my every movement on my PC!) Shame on me for thinking that the bloatware in a stock Windows 11 install was the end of Micro$oft's greed.
Switch to Linux. Please.
