Surface Sculpt Ergonomic?
Hi,
Ever since the introduction of Microsoft's ergonomic keyboards, I've been using them, starting with the first Natural Keyboard, over the Natural Keyboard Pro (which I'm still using at the Office, thanks to the multimedia keys and programmable keys which I use for Copy/Paste/Select All), upto the Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard and mouse I use at home.
Now I read the upsetting news that Microsoft discontinues the production of (mice and) keyboards, in favour of the Surface brand.
Now I'm wondering if the existing Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard will be rebranded as a Surface product, or will simply be discontinued altogether?
Kind regards
Stijn Bousard

Unfortunately, the Surface Ergonomic Keyboard is not the same as the Microsoft Sculpt in one extremely important way - The Surface keyboard has the number pad built into the keyboard, which makes the keyboard very wide and forces the user to place their mouse very far to the right of the keyboard. That mouse placement then creates shoulder pain and other bad posture effects. I had the previous Microsoft "natural" keyboard for a long time (that keyboard was very wide with the built in number pad just like the Surface keyboard) - it was very good for wrist position, but caused me a lot of problems because my mouse had to be so far away from the keyboard where I had to keep my arm stretched out to reach it - thus the shoulder and back and other issues it caused.
But then I got the Sculpt keyboard which does not have a number pad built in (the number pad is a separate piece and you don't need to use it). The Sculp is more of a standard sized keyboard and you can put the mouse much closer. Bingo - my shoulder and back strain went away,
So, I hope that Microsoft will keep the Sculpt keyboard with the smaller footprint (no built-in number pad). I don't care what brand name you put on it, and I'd be ok with some price increase if necessary, but PLEASE do not discontinue the Sculpt design. (My current Sculpt board is working fine, but if I ever need to replace it -- no keyboard lasts forever -- I want another one just like it!)

2023-10-04T18:46:50+00:00 I am an occupational therapist / upper extremity / and ergonomic specialist and have been suggesting the Microsoft Sculpt for Business for YEARS! It was/ is a wonderful keyboard that allows users to move number pad and mouse to different locations, and places the mouse directly beside the "alpha" keys. The new option that is being suggested does not meet this need at all. It places the mouse further away resulting in potential stress/strain to the shoulder and elbow. Please bring the old model back to continue to meet needs in the field for better ergonomics Your substitute does NOT meet this need!

2024-05-08T14:39:03+00:00 To anyone reading this thread, it seems there is some good news. Microsoft has licensed this (and a few other products) to a company called Incase. Their site says: "Incase to relaunch Microsoft PC accessory portfolio in 2024"
And Sculpt is one of the listed products. I hope this gets realized soon. Some online sources mention a possible Q2 2024 release.

I agree with Jennifer! I too have been recommending this product and very frustrated that I can't find anything even remotely close to the SCULPT keyboard. Does anyone know how long or if this will make a comeback? I do not understand why this is no longer available?? I have several of these in the cue to be ordered and getting emails from people saying it is no longer in stock or avail.
