When I'm typing in Word, I tend to brush across it changing my typing location.

    Hi Michael Christian2,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused you. We are aware of how difficult it may be to type something in a word document and have the touchpad often and brush the keys, changing where you are typing.

If you wish to temporarily disable the touch pad on your keyboard, you may follow the steps below.

    If you're running Windows 10:

    1. Open the system Settings or press Windows key + I to open settings.
    2. Choose Devices, then Touchpad.
    3. Click the Touchpad toggle switch to the Off option in the Touchpad Settings window.

    If you're running Windows 11:

    1. Open the system Settings or press Windows key + I to open settings.
    2. Select Bluetooth and devices.
    3. Scroll down and select Touchpad.
    4. Click the Touchpad toggle to turn it off.

If you choose to turn it back on, just switch it back on by following the same instructions in the settings.

    Wishing you all the best!

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia

    • "If you're Windows 11:"

There is no way to disable the touchpad on Windows 11. Only a sensitvity selector.

    • The setting "disable touchpad when a mouse is attached" which I've seen on Windows 10 would be really helpful and the best option, but that's not available either.
    • There is also no device in Device Manager with a recognisable name that can be disabled to disable the touchpad. The most obvious devices already disable but not the required result.

On Windows 10 it did work, so I am a bit suprised, and annoyed.
