Hello,

I have Microsoft Surface X.

When I am trying to install the "Citrix Gateway Plug-in" I get the massage "Citrix Gateway Plug-in Setup Wizard Stopped Prematurely".

Anybody can help?

This google chrome extension works. You may find that you are missing a few features, such as access to a local printer, but I've been working at home through Citrix using the above extension for weeks now.

    Hello,

same Problem here. Our CEO has ordered the Surface X. Citrix Workspace App is not working on ARM.

We use as workaround the Citrix Workspace App of Goggle Chrome.

    This is a functional alternative!

    Best regards,

    Claudius

Having used this for a month, has it worked, or have there been further issues? I'm considering a Pro X, but would need the ability to use Citrix, and so I'm curious.

    Thanks!

Following up on my earlier post, I received my Surface Pro X today. When I attempted to install Citrix Receiver, it failed, but the Google Chrome extension linked to above does work. The one thing I'm noticing is that some of the features of Citrix work slightly differently in the Chrome Extension, and also I am not able to access my at-home printer, but these are minor issues in the grand scheme.

I'll bet it's because it installs a driver. I've used Citrix in the past and I've noticed it installs some sort of display driver (I forget what it calls it exactly). Since drivers can't be emulated, that's probably why it's failing. VPNs have the same problem; they install a network driver, and this sounds similar to a VPN. Have you tried the Citrix Workspace UWP version (from the Microsoft store)? That supports x86 and ARM. I haven't used anything from Citrix for a few years so I'll admit I'm not 100% sure what the difference is between "Citrix Gateway Plug-in" and Citrix Workspace (formerly known as Citrix Receiver), but it might be worth a shot. I found some Citrix pages about using this app with the gateway, but maybe it requires a different setup on the backend to work; not sure.

I'm assuming this is for work, so maybe ask your IT team if they can ask Citrix support to update the plugin for ARM64?

    Hi, micha_800!

The Citrix NetScaler Gateway Plug-in will not work on the Surface Pro X this time. The organization that develops the app determines whether their app will work on a Windows 10 ARM-based PC. Kindly check with the makers of the app if they have plans to make it available for ARM-based PCs in the near future.

I am truly sorry if this is not the answer you expected. The Surface Pro X has a processor which is Microsoft^®^ SQ1™, it is a custom ARM chip for the device different from the other devices in the Surface line. The main benefits for Windows 10 ARM-based PCs are the following:

    • Always be connected to the internet. With a cellular data connection, you can be online wherever you get a cellular signal—just like with your mobile phone. When you’re at work, home, or by another Wi-Fi network you trust, you can connect to Wi-Fi to save cellular data and keep working.
    • Battery life that goes beyond all-day. You'll use less power than you would with other PCs, so you can go through a typical work or school day without running out of battery or worrying about finding an outlet to plug into. If you want to use your PC for something more fun, you can play videos stored on your PC for many hours without charging your battery in between.
    • Turn on instantly. When you’re not using your PC, just press the power button like you do on your mobile phone to turn off the screen. When you take out your PC and turn it back on, it turns on instantly. Whenever you have a few minutes in between classes, meetings, or other activities, you can get things done without waiting for your PC to start.

I would like to thank you for providing us the opportunity to  help you out.

    Respectfully,

    Janette_Z
