Surface RT with windows 10

So there hasn't anything official yet so I will ask. When is the surface RT getting the upgrade to windows 10. The 8.1 updates have removed alot of the touchscreen apps i enjoyed from the windows store and also, from the forums over the last couple of years there has been some increased chatter that this might happen.

I know the device is way out of date. But i really dislike the last round of updates which have only caused my hard drive which is already almost full at 32 GB (i have maybe 2-3 GB free for things to run) but I'd prefer to be on something which my desktop is already using and be able to share resources between them faster.

There are ways to try to upgrade to Win 10 from RT but you will likely brick the device.

These devices were not cheap to purchase. Customers bought them in good faith, expecting Microsoft to support them for a good long while. Suggestions to throw the device away and purchase a new one... now that's really helpful isn't it? Not everyone can afford to do that, and they rightfully expect the system they invested in to last and be supported more than a few years.

I firmly believe it is Microsoft position that THEY own your device, and will do as they please with it weather you like it or not.

I had a Surface RT given to me... Thankfully, I didn't pay a dime for it. I will never purchase a Windows branded device. If the Surface RT, phones, and constant updates to Windows 10 (Like permanently mapping your F7 key to caret browsing) hasn't turned you towards Apple, Android and Linux, you must love throwing money down a hole.

Microsoft has a long history of ignoring it's customers, brushing them off, and using scripted technical support when their answers don't even apply to your needs. Microsoft decides what's good for you and the destiny of your devices, not you.

Like I said, they act as though they own the device and your just a noisy app that deserves no attention.

Microsoft and the cell phone industry should recognize that consumers would like to keep their device as long as possible instead of creating "forced obsolescence" every few years to sell new products to folks who don't actually need a new device. It's a money game, you and your device will never be respected to the degree of a dollar in their eyes.

If Microsoft is no longer supporting the Surface RT and the Surface 2, why won't they release the Secure Boot keys so owners can try installing more modern operating systems?

They did exactly the same with the Lumia 950XL windows phone. I loved that phone and only had it for a year before Microsoft walked away. My Surface RT is next to bricked and my 950XL finds usable apps difficult.

I have a few items from Samsung's Android line instead now. Microsoft is next to useless. The only reason I've seen this post is because occasionally,  in vain, I visit websites looking for a solution.

It is a shame it was abandoned.

I have seen that it is something that is indeed possible. You might get a few more years out of it if you can do it. But ARM32 has fallen out of support too from what I hear.

Search for it on XDA Developers.
