Clicked “Network Reset” and now I can’t connect to anything.

UPDATE: I have resolved my issue!

I was having trouble connecting to my Wi-Fi and as someone who’s NOT tech-savvy, I clicked “Network Reset” in hopes of fixing the network connection issue I was having.

The network reset description says the following: This will remove then reinstall all your network adapters, and set other networking components back to their original settings. You might need to reinstall other networking software afterward, such as VPN client software or virtual switches.

Because it said that it would set everything back to their original settings, I thought it would work like the restart button, and simply reboot those settings, but that was not the case.

When I click on the little internet globe symbol which shows all the available networks and connect options around me, it ONLY shows Airplane Mode. Before resetting it would also show Wi-Fi networks and I would connect to my Wi-Fi, but now it doesn’t even show up.

When I click on Network and Internet settings the network status says “Not Connected: You aren’t connected to any networks.”

I clicked troubleshoot right below it and all it says is “There might be a problem with the driver for the Wi-Fi adapter.” It could not automatically fix the issue.

So, how can I reconnect to all the network adapters I had before resetting?

Okay, I am writing this through my pc, which means..........I have fixed my issue (yay)!

So I seriously feel like I have worms for brains after this fiasco. The solution to my problem was embarrassingly simple. All that I had to do was Reset my pc (・_・). Albeit, this deletes all applications you have downloaded, it is what resolved my issue! I have reset my PC to square one before, and am ashamed that I forgot to try this sooner (〃>_<;〃).

So, if you are running across this thread because you pressed the devilish button that is "Network Reset," good news, there are a few steps to fix any network connectivity issues you may be facing as a result!

First, just open your settings and type "Reset" and press enter.

Below should appear the following: "Reset this PC," "Reset default apps," "Reset your touchpad to its default setting," and so on and so forth.

Click "Reset this PC" and follow the steps that accompany!

Woohoo! After this process, your PC should be back and working better than ever ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

    Hi diancie,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry.

    We suggest the methods below:

    • Run the System File Checker.
    • Refresh the driver. Go to device manager > look for the Wi-Fi driver > Right click the Wi-Fi driver then choose uninstall. Make sure to uncheck the tick box for delete the driver. > Restart the device.
    • Run the network commands to restart the network settings:
    1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt. The Command Prompt button will appear. To the right of it, select Run as administrator > Yes.
    2. At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order, and then check to see if that fixes your connection problem:

    • Type netsh winsock reset and select Enter.

    • Type netsh int ip reset and select Enter.

    • Type ipconfig /release and select Enter.

    • Type ipconfig /renew and select Enter.

    • Type ipconfig /flushdns and select Enter.

Keep us updated by replying on this thread.

Thank you for your response! Unfortunately after following what you suggested, I am still unable to connect to my Wi-Fi.

Here are pictures of me doing what was recommended:

    Running the System File Checker:

    Image

Forgot to take pictures of me uninstalling the driver, but I did follow up with that step next!

    Running the network commands:

After doing all of this and restarting my computer, my issue was not resolved.

The following show what I meant in my initial question & what I am still dealing with.

Where I click to connect to my Wi-Fi:

    Only shows Airplane Mode

After clicking Network & Internet Settings:

^ Right here you can see the Network Reset button I clicked, which was the result of the problem I am now facing.
