Surface Book 3 USB C Power Bank Charging

Can the Surface Book 3 be charged via a power bank?

I saw a community question asked in 2020, but not other results so far. I find it ridiculous that in 2022 am forced to use mains power for a PREMIUM "laptop" mobile device, and it cant be charged via a power bank.

Thunderbolt "security" issues were laughable, but let go. But I need to be able to charge my device whilst on the road.

Thank you for responding. Try using at least the same wattage on power supply that came with the device, you may refer to the table below:

Power supply unit model Surface model Main charger USB power on charger Total wattage
    1932 Surface Book 3 15" 15 volts @ 8 amps=120 watts 5 volts @ 1.5 amps=7.5 watts 127 watts
    1798 Surface Book 3 13.5" (with Nvidia discrete GPU) 15 volts @ 6.33 amps=95 watts 5 volts @ 1.5 amps=7.5 watts 102 watts

    Hi CalClifford1,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that having a back up power for Surface devices are important specially for on-the-go cases.

What are the exact specifications of your Surface Book 3?

The Surface device can be charge using a USB-C charger. In this case, we recommend using a USB-C charger that provides at least the same wattage as the power supply that was included with your Surface (see Surface power supplies and charging requirements).

Please also see article For devices using USB-C.
