How can I pair my surface pen to a new device if it is currently paired to a device that died (so I can't unpair it there)?

I have a surface pen that was paired to a computer that died. I can't seem to reset the pen so I can pair it with my new device. Is there any way to do that?

    Hi Marrion,

I'm in the same situation as the Op, old surface died and replaced with a new one but can't get the old pen to pair...

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4023523/surface-troubleshoot-microsoft-surface-pen

According to this troubleshooting article, if the light only blinks for 2-3 seconds then it's already paired with another device but doesn't mention how to un-pair if we don't have access to the old surface?

Perfectly good pen, definitely not spending another $100 dollars for no reason!

    Any help appreciated...

    Cheers

    Hi AFerman - MSFT,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

May I know which Surface Pen do you have? Check this page to Identify your Surface Pen.

What happens when you press and hold the top button of the pen? Does the LED blink continuously?

Normally, you may just pair the Surface Pen to your new device even if it is previously paired with a device that is not present/within reach anymore. Just press and hold the top button until the LED blinks to turn on Bluetooth pairing mode. On your Surface, go to Windows Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Make sure your Bluetooth is On then select Add a Bluetooth or other device > Bluetooth. Select your Surface Pen once it appears then Done.
