I just bought Microsoft Surface Pro 7plus. I an shopping for a compatible keyboard (type cover). Some type cover's "connectivity technology" is specifed as bluetooth. Does the original Surface type cover communicate data with the tablet through bluetooth (wireless)? I guessed it is not wireless and thorugh conductors contacting the tablet and type cover.

    Hello Daniel,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I appreciate you raising this concern to us and I understand the need to have a Type Cover or keyboard for your Surface Pro 7+. You got me here, we'll definitely sort this out together. Before anything else, allow me to ask a question.

    • May I know what type of keyboard you are trying to purchase? Is it a Type Cover or a Bluetooth keyboard?

Basically, the original Type Cover for the Surface Pro 7+ does not use Bluetooth to communicate with the tablet. Instead, it utilizes a proprietary magnetic connector that attaches to the bottom of the tablet. Thus, the Type Cover for Surface pro 7+ does not provide power nor transfer data through Bluetooth. On the other hand, if you wanted to purchase a Bluetooth Keyboard that is compatible to your Surface Pro 7+, you can also check this link Buy Surface Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard  - Microsoft Store.

Wish you all the best and hopefully this helps!

    Best regards,

    Rolando S.
