ARM processor / gaming issue

Hey everyone,

So I recently bought the new Surface Laptop 7th Edition for the sole purpose of playing one game.

After experiencing the game crash about once an hour, I reached out to the support team for the game and asked them to review the crash reports and see if they could determine the issue. After some time, this was their conclusion:

I assume that you are using a Surface Pro device with ARM architecture. At the moment Battleye and Tibia don't support the ARM architecture. This means the client will not run stable on a system with this architecture.

Now, I'm not computer savvy at all, I'm assuming there is nothing I can do to make this game compatible with the processor, but perhaps there is a work around?

Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question!

Thanks, Jason

Supposedly there was an updated released that was supposed to address issues with Battleye anti-cheat on ARM PCs:

I have an older Surface Pro X (also ARM cpu) that hasn't been offered Windows 11 24H2 yet so I can't test it myself, but I'd check to see if you're running 24H2 (pretty sure the new devices were shipped with this version), and also see if your system has that update installed.

The fact that you can actually launch a game with Battleye is impressive though, as I don't think I've had any game with Battleye that would actually work correctly for any amount of time on my device.

One thing you could try is adjust the emulation settings (it's a bit of a stretch)

Right click executable -> Compatibility tab -> "Change emulation settings" button near the bottom under the heading "Windows on ARM".

I believe you can also accomplish the same thing but running the "Troubleshoot compatibility" wizard".

    Just my 2 cents.

    Hi Jason,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

The Surface Laptop 7th Edition is powered by Windows 11 Arm®-based Snapdragon® X Elite processors.

Drivers for hardware, games and apps will only work if they're designed for a Windows 11 Arm-based PC. Games and apps may not work if they rely on "anti-cheat" drivers that haven't been made for Windows 11 Arm-based PCs.

You might consider contacting the game developers and expressing the need for ARM support might encourage them to release a compatible version or update.

I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

    Hey there,

I do have that latest update installed on my computer and also yes this device came with 24H2.

I've also tried adjusting the emulation settings unfortunately.

It is interesting that I can launch the game without problem, but the client will crash all day.

Fortunately I've only had this new PC for a few weeks and after talking with support I'll be returning it and getting a different Surface laptop that's compatible.

    Thanks both for the advice!
