Where I could keep the pen?

Hello!

I have a Surface Pro 9 and a Slim Pen 2. I mostly use the Surface in tablet mode and I need to keep the pen close by. Therefore, it's not convenient to store it in the keyboard in such cases and having it just laying on the table is also not ideal. Apple, in this regard, offers a solution by simply magnetizing the pen to the edge of the tablet. I found that I can attach the pen in a similar manner near the charging port (I mostly charge via Type-C and charging port are free) and it's quite convenient for me. Can you tell me if this is safe? I'm interested in the security of both devices, of course

P.S.: I found this linksuggesting there shouldn't be any problems, but it's a rather old post and I'd like to update the information.

    Hi Danila Chepurko,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We appreciate for sharing your concern to us.

Microsoft doesn't formally advise storing the Slim Pen 2 by attaching it with the magnet near to the Surface Pro 9's charging port. The Surface Pro Signature Keyboard, the Surface Slim Pen Charger, or the Surface Duo 2 Pen Cover are all approved ways to charge the Slim Pen 2.

    • Can you confirm that it can be magnetized and attached close to the charging port?

It may be practical to use the magnet to secure the pen near to the charging port, however it is unclear whether doing so is secure for either device.

According to this article, the Surface Slim Pen 2 can only be magnetized to the Surface Pro Signature keyboard.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
