Hi,
The problem is that the computer doesn't actually go to sleep - the screen goes black but the computer is actually still on, which drains the battery, plus it gets hot, and then the fan runs to cool it which also drains the battery.
Do you use an external monitor?
I have the same problem and have spent hours on the phone and online with Microsoft support. After months dealing with the support staff they informed me that if you have an intel processor and use an external monitor there is a bug in their software that leads to a bunch of problems (including this), that all start when you unplug the external monitor.
I have the most expensive warranty available and they have done absolutely nothing to help (other than spend hours trying to trouble shoot, which mainly involves factory resetting the device and doesn't solve the problem).
I asked for a refund given that this problem is their fault (software and hardware), and I was offered a replacement device instead. I took the replacement (which they only send to you after they receive your device in the mail, meaning I was without a computer for a week), and obviously the problem persisted since the replacement also had an intel processor.
If your problem is the same as mine, Microsoft's advice was to wait until their engineers push through a patch in an update, but there was no timeline on when that update would happen. In my opinion this is completely unacceptable so I am still trying to get either a replacement with a non-intel processor or a refund.
