How can I type "<" or ">" with FR keyboard layout, when using US Surface Book 2 ?

Sorry for late reply.

It doesn't work on my Surface Book 2 ...

There is no "Alt Gr" key, I have 2 "Alt" keys, left and right of the space bar.

Whatever combination (Left "Alt", Right "Alt", "Alt + Alt", "Ctrl + Alt" and "m/M" ("m/M"-US or ",/?"-FR) or ",/<" (",/<"-US or ";/."-FR) is not working.

As for "Alt" "060" or "062", it launches a printer work ... after "Alt" "06".

I'm still stuck on the </> with Surface Book 2 bought in the US, and working now with french accents (wishing to have a FR keyboard layout).

Kind regards,

Taraua.

    Hello US_Techno_FR,

Thank you so much for the response and I appreciate the time and effort you put into this. Sorry for the late response.

How about try to press Windows + dot(.) on your keyboard and there would be a pop up screen that looks like this:

And above you have six options and choose the number 5 which is labeled as symbols. When you choose that you'll be able to see all these options and many more:

Please give this a shot and let me know if it helps.

    Best regards,

    Rolando S.

    Hi Team,

So, this is my keyboard (US).

When I "Window + Space bar" to FR layout, as shown on the picture, I can't find "<" ">" symbols.

    Any help ?

By the way, " ° " key doesn't exist on this US keyboard ... I must change layout just for this symbol ...

So ennoying when dealing with temperatures (°F of °C) or geometry (90°) or numbers (n°4).

    Hello US_Techno_FR,

Thank you so much for your response and I appreciate the effort you put into this.

We really wanted to help you sort this out, is it possible to if you could take a screenshot of what is the type of FR Keyboard Layout you are using and attached it to your next response?

Basically, there are types of French Keyboard Layout namely:

You can take a screenshot of what's popping up on screen when you press Windows + SpaceBar or you can also go to Settings > Time and Language > Language and Region > Under Preferred Language, click the 3 dots and Choose Language options > Take a screenshot under Keyboard.

Hoping to hear back from you.

    Best regards,

    Rolando S.

    Hi team,

"Shift" + ", / <" does work to key "<", but it is not what I want to do.

I have a US Surface Book 2, with a US keyboard.

I want to write with a FR keyboard layout.

I can change to a FR keyboard layout ("Windows" + "Space bar"). But then, "<" and ">" exist no more, nowhere !!

I can type "<" and ">" with a US keyboard, but I need to write accents because I have to write in FR now.

That is why I want to install a FR keyboard layout and I need "<" and ">", which I can't find anywhere.

It looks like this was never thought through by Microsoft : "<" and ">" keys ...

    Hello US_Techno_FR

Thank you so much for posting in Microsoft Community.

I appreciate you raising this concern to us, and I understand that you're having a hard time typing a specific symbol in your Surface. You got me here; we'll definitely sort this out together.

Here are some things you may try to solve the problem:

    1. To type "<", press the "Shift" and "," keys simultaneously. To type ">", press the "Shift" and "." keys simultaneously.
    2. Press and hold the ALT key and while holding it, type 60 on the numeric keypad for “<” or 62 for “>”.

Please give this a shot and see if it helps.

    Best regards,

    Rolando S.
