Surface Dial Customisation Issues

I've just received a new Surface Dial, running on the latest Windows 11 version. I purchased with the intent to use it with software such as Adobe Audition.

First major issue is the Settings app crashes when I try to add more than 2 custom tool settings for an app. I can add new apps without it crashing, but I can only create 2 custom tools per app.

If this is due to a limitation set by Microsoft, why would you limit the number of custom tools? There are at least 6 spots available. This seems a ridiculous limitation to have.

Another frustration, why can you not set an icon for the custom tools? Displaying a number for the custom tools I set is hardly good UI design.

The set up instructions online show the previous UI allowed configuring of the Custom tool options for the default tools, while I can select "Custom tool" for one (and only one) of the 6 tools, there is no ability to actually set the configuration for that custom tool.

I can't even find any documentation about where (e.g. in the registry) the settings are actually stored so I might try to manually get around these limitations.

I can see a lot of potential utility, but it seems like Microsoft have abandoned users of the Surface Dial and no longer care to actually support it...

I am experiencing a similar problem. I created three custom tools for Affinity Designer and now when I go to Wheel settings and try to add more custom tools Wheel Settings crashes every time I click Edit tools > Add another tool. The only work around that I can see is to remove the current app and settings and start all over making sure I enter all the options I need.

I bought my Dial a couple of years ago before upgrading to Windows 11.
