How to enable input via Miracast on Windows 11?

Hello,

I have Surface Laptop Studio (later SLS) and a new desktop PC (later dPC), both with Windows 11. I want to use Miracast (or any other way to be honest) to use SLS as an extra monitor for my desktop PC. I want to use it as drawing tablet, similar to Cintiq from Wacom. I am able to connect them, either as a duplicate or extension, but no matter what I can not use any input from SLS. I've seen a lot of topics on Internet talking about isues with this feature, but they are all about Windows 10 and those solutions do not apply to W11.

What can I do to use input form my SLS when I cast to it via Miracast?

First, to use Miracast (Screen Mirroring) in Windows 11, see Screen mirroring and projecting to your PC - Microsoft Support

Second, it sounds like you want to use your SLS as a drawing tablet for a desktop computer by connecting them via USB. Unfortunately, there is no way to do this.

"The problem is that when my dPC casts to my SLS via Miracast I can not use input from SLS in any shape or form"

When you project FROM you dPC to your SLS, you should see

And if you click the box ON your dPC to allow input, then you SHOULD be able to use your SLS touch screen/pen/etc. IF the dPC has touch capabilities.

You mention using the SLS as a Wacom type drawing tablet. If the dPC supports inking/drawing, it might work. Here is a SP7+ on the left, projecting to a SLS on the right. I was able to use a Surface Pen ON the SLS to open Paint and draw ON the SP7+ remotely using wireless display. Bit if your dPC does NOT support pen/inking/etc., then I do not think this will work.

What exact desktop PC do you have?

"I am able to connect them, either as a duplicate or extension, but no matter what I can not use any input fomr SLS."

I have already gone through those steps. Devices are connected via Miracast, I can change how I want to cast desktops. This part is not the problem. The problem is the lack of input from SLS. I can not use any input from it, and as far as I understand that should be possible (I've seen it on EVERY single video on the topic so far).

No, I do not want to use my SLS by connecting it via USB. It would be great, I really do not understand why M$ is not providing such feature, but I am trying to connect the via Miracast (which I already did, but input does not work).

So the problem is not with setting up connection in general, I am not looking for USB solution (M$, that would be so much better, come on). The problem is that when my dPC casts to my SLS via Miracast I can not use input from SLS in any shape or form.

Please help. It is extremely frustrating.
