John,
I've done pretty much everything in all the threads that I can find on this topic and nothing has worked. To your specific reply:
1) Surface Diagnostic Toolkit ran all the way through and showed that everything was fine. It never ran any kind of test on the keyboard or touch pad. Maybe because the SP3 isn't detecting one.
- My OS Build is 19042.868 - Windows 10 Pro - version 20H2. When I check the downloads page, there is nothing available with 19042 in the name. I can't match my OS Build.
- It's my understanding that the SP3 doesn't come up in UEFI but comes up in the MegaTrends BIOS instead. Either way, the keys and cursor are unresponsive. Only the touchscreen works.
It simply does not recognize the newer model type cover but will always recognize the older one. It's not possible to do any type of update to the type cover through sound/printers since it doesn't show up in there. In device manager, all the type cover device types are hidden since the SP3 didn't detect a type cover. If I force showing the hidden items, I can uninstall and update them; but the SP3 still won't recognize the new type cover on reboot or scan for changes. And yes, the new type cover works on newer Surface Pro units like a 6 and 7.
Rick.
