    Hi Ellen Leible1,

Thank you for the response. Just to make sure, you were able to unstick the kickstand already and now, you are able to use the kickstand to have the device stand up, correct? Or you were able to have the kickstand unstick but then the device does not stay up with the help of the kickstand since the hinges on it is loose already?

If further assistance is needed on this, considering that this would be a hardware issue, you may reach out to our live support for options available and for further assistance. You may contact them through these steps below:

    1. Go to Contact Us - Microsoft Support
    2. Choose how you would like to get support for your Surface device.

    Hi Ellen Leible,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I understand that your Surface does not stand on its own using the kickstand and you have to get something to support it at the back to stand, correct? If yes, it seems that the hinges of kickstand of your Surface Pro is loose already which is already a hardware issue, and no troubleshooting could fix. Is there any damage on the kickstand?

May I know also what is the exact model of your Surface Pro? To check, you can refer to this page for reference: Find out which Surface model you have - Microsoft Support

    Kind regards,
    Marrion
