Scanners that work with Microsoft ARM processer
I bought a Microsoft Surface Laptop last week. Got everything set up and then realized my ScanSnap scanner was not working with the new laptop. I called them and they said none of their scanners work with the ARM Processer in my laptop. Does anyone know what brand of scanners DO work with the ARM processer??? This is a HUGE problem for me. I am almost paperless and scan things all the time.

2024-09-03T04:04:59+00:00 I was very happy using my old Surface for 6 years. I had to purchase a new Surface Pro (11th Edition), and I loved my old one, I just assumed it would work with my 2 scanners. I am paperless, and the inability to connect to a portable scanner is serious enough for me to return the new Surface to Best Buy and look for an alternative.
After attempting to link by usb and wifi it now appears that Microsoft has screwed up, and needs to be forthcoming with their communication and solutions.

2024-09-13T18:05:36+00:00 On 13 September 2024 I spoke with Tech Support at Ricoh (used to be Fujitsu?) about the iX100 ScanSnap not "connecting" with my brand new Surface Laptop 7th Edition. The Tech guy said my problem was the same as he'd received other calls about, and he said that right now, the ScanSnap will NOT be compatible with the SnapDragon processor from Qualcomm that Microsoft installs in the Laptop 7th Edition for AI purposes. (Of course, that same incompatibility problem with the Qualcomm processor has arisen in a software context on this newest computer when I tried to install Malwarebytes.) The Tech told me that their software folks are supposed to be working with Microsoft to find a compatibility solution for this processor issue (I was also told the same thing by the Malwarebytes people), and that he was told there are problems that remain to be solved by the technology people on both sides. No one seems to know why this problem wasn't identified, tested or headed off during development, as I also find all kinds of blogs and articles indicating problems from this kind of processor, and I don't know if Qualcomm also has to be part of the ultimate solution. The ScanSnap iX100 is a jewel of a portable device and has traveled with me a lot of places when I was using older Microsoft computers, and it's really distressing to have an otherwise fine new laptop that just won't work with some of this useful hardware and software. I asked them to blast out an email and other publicity when - and if - their installation software or drivers are updated. I also asked the Tech if ANY of their scanners work with the new Microsoft Snapdragon-processor computer and he said that, yes, one model (the iX1600) does work via WiFi connection (as he did that recently), but of course that's not a portable scanner, so it's no help here.

2024-09-04T22:13:11+00:00 Most of the scanners on recent multi-function printers seem to work with the generic Microsoft drivers on Windows 11 on the Snapdragon processors. I can currently scan from all of my Brother multi-function printers using Microsoft's Scan app from the Windows Store.
