Screenshots are complicated!

I've just purchased a Surface Laptop 7. I'm loving it, except that it seems unbelievably complicated trying to take a screenshot and then paste it. I'm used to hitting Print Screen, then Ctrl-V to paste it into a document. (I don't want to use the snipping tool - I do the editing in another application. ALSO note that there is no Print Screen button on the Surface Laptop 7 - contrary to the unhelpful info provided in a google search.) Can you tell me how I can simply screenshot and then simply paste that screenshot into a document?

i stand corrected for this comment

on a Surface laptop 7 the F8 is the print screen key, the user need to turn on the Fn button, then press the Windows Key + F8 to take a screenshot

Thanks yes, it turns out that the Surface Laptop has a Print Screen key like it's predecessors - it's just not labeled as that. Windows + F8 does it, then you can do Ctrl + V and paste, same as always.

    Hi Stephen,

You can certainly use the Snipping tool or the Snipping key on the keyboard to copy the image to your clipboard to paste wherever you want, no editing is required in the Snipping tool.

However, if you want to take a screen shot via the keyboard keys, there are options listed at Take a screenshot or record your screen on Surface - Microsoft Support that may assist you, like this:

Place a screenshot of your active window into the Windows clipboard.

    • Press the Fnbutton****+ Altbutton + Spacebar at the same time

    Hope this helps,

    Greg
