Hi Crest_z
Are you saying that there is a reduced cost to replace the whole laptop if it's just water damage on the keyboard or are you just trying to say nicely : sorry you'll have to buy another one?

I split lemon tea on my surface book 2 keyboard and then it does not work anymore. I searched Amazon. I can only find keyboard replacement (the clipboard) for surface book 1 1704. It looks fit but I wonder it would work together with my surface book 2. Thank you!

Hi FazhongDeng,
Thank you raising this concern of yours here in Microsoft Community.
The keyboard you found in Amazon is basically not a brand new one since Microsoft doesn't supply just keyboards to retailers like Amazon for Surface Book devices. The only way to find out if that keyboard will work on your Surface Book 2 is to try it out. Yes, it will fit on your Surface Book 2 but I'm not 100% sure if that's going to work. In the event that it's not going to work, you can return it to seller for refund.
On the other hand, Microsoft offers replacement for Surface Book 2 but it's for the entire unit since its keyboard and its clipboard is configured as one. It's the reason why we don't replace just the keyboard of a Surface Book device.

Its the same thing happened to me. Omg . Never ever buy any surface devices again
After two and a half years, the battery stopped working and the only choice is to pay 640 Euro for a replacement!?! After two years, the same thing will happen again!
I wouldn't be more disappointed! I will never buy a Microsoft device again.
Microsoft will replace a Surface not covered by warranty for a fee. It's around $600.00. You should be able to check or do it through your Microsoft account.
