New Surface Pro 7 with new Bamboo Ink Plus Stylus: doesn't detect half the brush strokes

Hello! After googling a lot and not finding a solution I decided to ask here before taking them both to tech support

GIF with problem

I think the gif shows the problem clearly (I'm sorry it's flipped), but just in case it doesn't work: Both are completely new, and since day one I have this issue where suddenly it stops detecting the pen for a couple of seconds and then comes back, all the time. I've tried to narrow it down to if it was doing it when I lifted it higher than a certain point, or if I was writting too fast, but I couldn't find consistency.

I've runned the Diagnostic Tool, which came out ok except it apparently requires a Bit Locker update. I got the "SurfaceBitLockerProtectorCheck.msi" file it reccomends, and run it in repair mode, but the problem persists. Both Bit Lcker requiring an update and the pen issue. I don't suppose they're related though?

And not much else really, since I couldn't find more suggestions to try. Since I wanted the Surface to draw this renders it useless for me, so I'd appreciate any help

Hi I just wanted to chime in on this post as I just ordered a Bamboo and nowhere could I find before ordering it or it's steller reviews that Surface Pro 7 seems to be the only device it doesn't seem to work on... Super duper!.....................   I guess my next question would be when or if this stylus may be avalible for use with the SP7, Microsoft?

This was posted at the bottomof the compatiblity page @ Wacom's product...

1: Only compatible with touch screen models.

*2 : Blue nib recommended devices. The blue nib can enhance your pen experience.

Note: Simply press Bamboo Ink Plus’s Bluetooth button (on the top of the pen) to launch the Windows Ink Workspace after connect Bluetooth with your devices. Please make sure you have Windows 10 installed on your device.

Each nib in the nib kit offers a different feel: choose between firm or soft. Medium is in your pen already. And with different nibs it’s easy to customize your pen to best suit whatever you’re annotating, drawing or sketching. You may need to update the driver in your device, please check here

Microsoft®Surface®Pro 7 does not support Bamboo Ink Plus.

I doubt that Microsoft will look at this as they do not claim or advertise

compatibility with third party pens that I can find.

I still feel like this could all be fixed by a driver update on Wacom's end.  I don't believe it is a Microsoft issue.

Really??!  So Ink works fine with SP7, huh?  Good to know I guess..  Man that is so LAME!

-Nope, no update.  Wacom has just wrote it off as "not compatible" and basically Microsoft's problem...

I did however come across a recommendation on a killer stylus pen for the surface that I personally swear by.  It's called the Raphael 520-  Much more inexpensive, light weight, usb chargeable, two button, magnetic side, and knows what to do right out of the box- feels great too!  You can check it out here if interested.

    Cheers!

It's hard to believe it's not compatible considering it works with generally every other Surface Pro/Book... I didn't order it directly through Wacom and that compatibility info wasn't listed on the site.   I guess I just assumed so I screwed up too.

Wacom customer service is about as useful as a bag of sand in the desert.. Their recommendation was to buy another one of their products (a small intuos tablet) to plug into a touch screen tablet?!  Kinda defeats the purpose of any of this... I'm hoping I can get a real answer from someone there soon because it would be great to actually use this thing.

I have a Surface pen now.  It's cool but it's also a bit lacking.  You will lose your two buttons as normal stylus pens have.  I find it a bit slick and has no grip, and your pressure sensitivity for brushes isn't good.  But! A fix for the pressure is to run WinTab. So two out of three ain't bad!

I feel like all we need is a proper driver for the Bamboo considering it half works..  fingers still crossed!

    -Cheers

it has dual pen protocols. you probably need to switch in order to use with the
    SP7 (as I did with a SP5)
    https://www.wacom.com/en-us/getting-started/bamboo-ink-plus
"This stylus supports two protocols. The pen needs to match the protocol of your
Windows device, either Wacom Active ES protocol or Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP).

If the stylus does not work on your device, press and hold both side-switches at
the same time for 2 seconds till the LED blinks to change the protocol."
